SIGN UP FOR SPEAKMON AND WYANDOTTE REGATTAS
Today is the last day for signup if you are interested in attending Speakmon regatta (Saturday October 29th) or Wyandotte Regatta (Sunday November 6th). We only have a few people signed up for Speakmon- if we don't get more, we likely won't have enough to send our club there....so please sign up if you would like to row! It's not a bad drive, and you won't have to stay overnight, since most of the races we would be in are later AM or afternoon.
Everyone, even those people in set boats, and also scullers, should sign up using our new online signup! To sign up, go to:
http://www.a2crew.com/regattas.html#registration
Please email Carly cago@umich.edu with any questions.
OAKLAND ROWING ASSOCIATION ROW & PICNIC, THIS SUNDAY
We've been invited by the brand new Oakland Rowing Association
(which is about 8 members and 1 coach strong) to join them for a row and picnic
this Sunday October 23 around 2pm on their home water of Cass Lake (near
Pontiac, MI). John, their coach, says they have 3 miles of pretty straight
water and they are anxious to show it off! The proposal was that we bring a
boat and row with them, or share their boat and row in shifts. Unfortunately,
due to the HOTC this weekend, we're limited in our ability to get equipment
there, but we'd still love to get together some rowers to go up and join them
for an afternoon of fun. I hope you can join me in welcoming these new rowers
to the Michigan rowing community!
Are you interested? Please let Margaret (mlhudson@umich.edu) know ASAP!
CELEBRATE ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL ROWING SEASON
All members and a guest are invited to attend our end of the year celebration on Sunday, November 13 from3-5pm at the Gladwin Center Barn (Ann Arbor). Tickets are $15 per person and you must pre-register, so please mark your calendars and check your inbox for the official invitation and opportunity to register for the event online. Hope to see you there!
IMPORTANT SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Board has recently been advised of a sexual assault that occurred in Bandemer Park. The safety of our rowers is a primary concern of this club. Please stay alert and watch out for one another. If you see any suspicious behavior, contact the police immediately. We also suggest using the buddy system at all times. Please consider walking to your car with another rower or stay in well lit, populated areas.
Police Emergency: 911
Police Non-emergency: 994-2911
Thank you.
Lora Freeman, Safety Officer
NEW AARC T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE
Back by popular demand, AARC's "puddle" design shirts are now in stock! Shirts
are available in several colors, in women's cut, and in long sleeve. Be the
first on the dock to sport the new togs! Also available are other classics
such as navy and grey AARC sweatshirts. And, we're running a special on this
year's MCI t-shirts! Check out http://www.a2crew.com/merch.html to place your
order today (all items are in stock and ready for delivery -- no pre-order
necessary!). Questions? Email Margaret (mlhudson@umich.edu).
REQUEST FOR PICTURES; (Almost) LAST CALL
Have a particularly striking picture from Head of the Ohio? Did you capture on
film the waves of Frogtown? Compilation of the AARC 2006 calendar is underway
and we'd love to be able to feature our members' artistic work! If you have any
great pictures from the season (or late last year), please email them to
Margaret (mlhudson@umich.edu). We'd love to have as many AARC members and
programs represented in the calendar, so we particularly need some happy-snaps
from our scullers and AdCompers! I have pictures, but if you want some say in
which pictures of you appear....
