SIGN UP NOW FOR THE HEAD OF THE THAMES
Head racing season is here! The deadline to sign up for the Tim Horton's Head of the Thames Regatta is Tuesday, September 5th, 8:30pm. Sign-ups are on the board at the boathouse. Questions? Email Tricia (triciam@umich.edu).
OAR PREP FOR HEAD RACE SEASON--WE NEED YOU!
Dale and I are going to be responsible for oar maintenance and
painting, but need rowers to help out as this goes much quicker with
several hands.
We are in need of several hands to help get are oars painted and
repaired before head race season. We are going to focus on rubber
handled oars first to have them ready to race with for Head of the
Thames. Thanks to Tricia, Dale, and Sally for helping to get the first
set done. We will be painting again on Tues Sept. 5th, Thurs Sept. 7th
and Fri Sept 8th at 5:45pm and Sat Sept. 9th at 9am. We need several
hands on Tues to help sand oars, scrape off decals and tape oars for
prep for painting. We will work on two sets of oars at a time to allow
enough to still row with in practice.
The first set we painted still needs the decals and one more clear coat
so do not use them in practice. They are taped off and on slings in the
boathouse.
We have had several requests to paint the sculling oars. This is a
great idea, so those who scull can come and help paint them. It would
be ideal to paint two sets of blades at a time so we could still have
some to row with. Dale and I will be teaching people how to do the
painting and prep work so don't worry if you don't have painting skills.
It is easy!
Our ultimate goal for the fall is to have all sets of oars painted,
both sweep and sculling oars. See you at the boathouse!
