CLUB PICNIC & ANNUAL MEETING
Please join Ann Arbor Rowing Club for our picnic and annual meeting from noon - 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Delhi Metropark, 3902 E. Delhi in Ann Arbor. For directions visit: www.metroparks.com/parks/pk_delhi.php
The day will be filled with fun activities including volleyball, frisbee, croquet, bocce ball, baseball, socialization and more so bring out whatever sports equipment you have and join in the fun. The club picnic will also feature a "State of the Club" address and members will have an opportunity to vote on new board members for the club. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The club will provide the usual fare - burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, some beverages, as well as a few desserts, and members are asked to please bring a side dish to share including chips, salads, dips or whatever else you can dream up. Beer and wine are permitted in the park. Please be mindful that each car will be charged a $4 fee by the metro park to enter the park.
Family and friends are encouraged and welcome to attend. We hope to see everyone there.
PRACTICE TIME REMINDER
As we approach the end of August and the remaining months of rowing there will be some coaching changes. With the change over of coaches practice times will also be affected. Bill Lockwood returns to the UM Mens, Crystal Culp will be assisting Pioneer part time, and Leah Farrell will be moving out of the area. Kevin Alschuler, Jodi Ryder, Crystal Culp and Caroline Petit will continue to coach. Cristin McCarty will return to AARC once she finishes rowing with the Canadian National team. As a result of the changes I wanted to remind all rowers of the weekly coached practice times.
- BSD: Monday-Thursday evenings only
- Open: Tuesday and Thursday morning until Sept 1; Tuesday, Friday, Sunday evenings
- ITP: Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings

HELP WANTED FOR PICNIC
The picnic committee (that's me, myself and I) is still seeking three to four people each to help with set up and clean up preparations at Saturday's Aug. 26 club picnic as well as one additional person to help with grilling duties. I am also putting out a plea for someone to serve as point person for the day to make sure things run smoothly, because after months of planning I am now unable to attend. If you can help out in any of these capacities please email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com as soon as possible. A sign up sheet will also be posted a the boathouse.
INTERESTING ARTICLES ON ROW2K.COM
This is a heads-up that www.row2k.com has great rowing articles, and they always have handy masters rowing tips. For example, there's a great article on set right now; check it out at http://www.row2k.com/features/features.cfm?action=read&ID=281
THANKS FOR DONATIONS
Thanks to everyone who answered the call and donated to help one of our young rowers in a time of need! See below for a note of thanks from the family.
"I am not sure who to send this to but Gar and I cannot thank you enough for everything that you have done for Sasha and our family. It is truly overwhelming. The generosity and compassion will never be forgotten. It has been a difficult time for Sasha and you have all made her feel so special...and for that we are most grateful. Thank you does not seem like enough but it really says everything. Our most sincere thanks" --The Zarins Family (Gar, Karen, Sasha and Zak)
PS: If anyone would like to read about the fire and see a picture...please check out the Saline Reporter at www.salinereporter.com before Wednesday evening..that is when they publish the next issue on line."
THANKS FOR CLOTHING LOANS
A special thank you to everyone who loaned an AARC racing jersey for our Youth rowers and the UMRT men to wear during competition at the Royal Canadian Henley last week. Everyone look so sharp in their matching uniforms and rowed with AARC pride!
