CLUB PICNIC AND ANNUAL MEETING
Please join Ann Arbor Rowing Club for our picnic and annual meeting from noon - 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Delhi Metropark, 3902 E. Delhi in Ann Arbor. For directions visit: www.metroparks.com/parks/pk_delhi.php
The day will be filled with fun activities including volleyball, frisbee, croquet, bocce ball, baseball, socialization and more. The club picnic will also feature a "State of the Club" address and members will have an opportunity to vote on new board members for the club. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The club will provide the usual fare - burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, some beverages, as well as a few desserts, and members are asked to please bring a side dish to share including chips, salads, dips or whatever else you can dream up. Beer and wine are permitted in the park. Please be mindful that each car will be charged a $4 fee by the metro park to enter the park.
On another note the picnic committee (that's me, myself and I) is seeking three to four people each to help with set up and clean up preparations as well as one additional person to help with grilling duties. Members are also asked to please bring any sports equipment they have including bats, balls, gloves, volleyball nets, etc to round out activities.
I am also putting out a plea for someone to serve as point person for the day to make sure things run smoothly, because after months of planning I am now unable to attend. If you can help out in any of these capacities please email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com by Aug. 19.
Family and friends are encouraged and welcome to attend. We hope to see everyone there.
HEAD OF THE CHARLES REMINDER
Just a reminder that if you intend to try-out for the Head of the Charles, you need to e-mail Tricia (triciam@umich.edu) with your name, side, and birthdate before August 20.
LAST CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO THE BOARD -- NOMINATIONS CLOSE AT 5 PM
At this time, we are opening the call for nominations to run for a position on the board! All members (including PBOs) are eligible to run for a 2 year position on the board and all members are also eligible to vote in the election. A nyone in the club can nominate any member for the board. Additionally, any member can nominate him- or herself, and in fact, we encourage you to do so if you have an interest in the board! In order to be a functioning governing body, the board needs representation from all areas of the club, including morning and evening open rowers, ITP rowers, BSD members, club scullers, and PBOs. Of the current board members, Sarah Marsh, Tricia Miranda, and Karen Berna each have a year left to serve of their terms. With the exception of Ron Woodman, who is term limited, all other board members need to run for reelection if they would like to continue to serve on the board.
So, start nominating those who you feel would be good leaders of the club! Submit your nominations (including self-nominations!) via email to aarc-nominate@umich.edu by Wednesday August 9 at 5pm. The election of the new board members will take place at the Annual Club Meeting and BBQ on Saturday August 26.
Please contact Margaret at mlhudson17@gmail.com with any questions about the nominations process, the elections process, the rewarding experience of being an AARC board member, or anything else at all!

I'll get a picture or two up on the website soon, so keep checking the merchandise page! The jackets are unisex sizes, please call J.L. Racing for sizing help (for their number see: www.jlracing.com). The cost for the new jacket is $116.00* and they are expected to arrive at the boathouse in September.
