MCI IS THIS WEEKEND!
Please look for a separate email regarding membership parking, arrival times, and an outline of the day's events.
CALL FOR SCULLING ENTRIES FOR MCI
PBOs and Club Scullers at MCI--if you're planning on racing at MCI, please email your entry to Tricia (triciam@umich.edu) by this Thursday at 10am so you will be included in lane-drawing. Club members don't pay regatta fees at our own event.
BBQ TIME
The open rowers are hosting this month's AARC BBQ on Friday, July 28. We are honoring this year's novices and their LTR coaches with a graduation party and are hoping for a big open rowing representation. Please show your support. The club will provide burgers, buns, condiments, some beverages, and a few desserts, so bring an additional dish to pass and come help us celebrate the growth of the club and to extend a warm welcome to our new members.
--Rachel Cox and Cheryl Chidester
This year, each monthly BBQ is hosted by a different group from the club. Each group is encouraged to come up with a theme for their event, but it is not required. Thanks to Rachel Cox and Cheryl Chidester for volunteering to coordinate this month's event. The remaining BBQ for this year will be held on September 22 and I am looking for someone from the Basic Skills program to help with the event. If you are interested please email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com.
REGATTA SPORT ORDER LOST
It appears our Regatta Sport order is lost in the mail! :( The items were shipped 2 weeks ago and have yet to make it in our hands. I will let those who ordered know as soon as we find the order and put an announcement in the weekly email for those who were interested in buying one of our very few extras we ordered!

WELCOME KATE HERRINGTION AS THE NEW SWEEP ROWING PROGRAM MANAGER
For the past year, I have been the adult sweep programming manager, and have worked closely with Keven, Sarah, and the rest of the program assistants to get the programs running through the first half of the season. Most of this work has been behind the scenes, as I have not been rowing due to my (VERY) gravid state! (I am due in one month!)
I am very pleased to announce that Kate Herrington will be taking over my position as the lead for adult sweep programming from now until the end of the season. Kate has already been actively involved in managing the sweep programs, as she is in charge of the coxing program, and is one of the program assistants. She is a perfect fit for sweep program manager- she has been a member of AARC for many years, and has rowed with all the different programs from Learn to Row, Novice (basic skills), open rowing, and now ITP.
Please welcome Kate in her new position with the club, and please feel free to contact her with any sweep programming questions or concerns you may have. Her email is nurseless1@comcast.net. She is your liason with the board, and also with Kevin, the director of sweep rowing. Thank you Kate!

SEEKING A NEW MERCHANDISE COORDINATOR
Jeff and Judy Jones have served diligently as merchandise coordinators for the past year, but need to hand over the reins this summer. If you are interested in helping AARC members stay up-to-date with all the latest gear, please let Margaret know ( mlhudson17@gmail.com). Duties include housing and distributing AARC gear; organizing and placing orders with Regatta Sport, JL Racing, and other vendors; and being creative and helping to shape the direction AARC takes with gear/goodies!
THANKS TO THE PREPPIES
Thanks to all who helped and provided tools and equipment. The Dock and spectator area is clear and ready for the crowd on Sat. Launches were serviced. As a bonus the boathouse floor has be given a fresh layer of fabric! Let's avoid dragging anything across the floor; it will last longer.

SAVE THE DATE
The Ann Arbor Rowing Club will host its Annual Meeting and Summer Picnic at Delhi Metropark from noon - 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. The day will include food, games and more. Family and friends are welcome. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.
AARC IS STILL LOOKING FOR MEN'S RACING GEAR TO BORROW
AARC is going to the 124th Royal Canadian Henley Regatta is full force this summer and we are looking for AARC racing tanks to borrow for rowers (there are uniform rules!). We need MEN'S racing jerseys for members of MRA/UMRT to borrow. If you would be willing to loan your tank to a racer Aug 10-17 it would be greatly appreciated! Men's Large and XL are particularly needed. Please email Margaret ( mlhudson17@gmail.com) if you can help us out!
DONATIONS OF SNACKS NEEDED FOR MCI
The MCI committee is seeking donations of snacks such as baked goods, granola bars, fruit, water bottles, gatorade, and ice for the regatta we are hosting next weekend! AARC offers these items to our guest rowers and spectators in return for a small donation; all money raised goes to support the regatta! Look for a sign up sheet on the bulletin board or if you can't get down to the boathouse, email Margaret ( mlhudson17@gmail.com) if you are willing to help!
MISSING FLEECE
I have mis-placed my fleece and am asking people to look about to see
if they can find it. I had it in Grand Rapids but it was not in my bag
when I arrived home. It is a Northface fleece, size medium with a pull
waist cord that adjusts on each side. I believe the color is blue;
however ask those with whom I row in the morning who may recall the
color better than I. If you find it, please email me at deyoungr@umich.edu
--Robert De Young
Editor's note: If it's the same fleece Robert wore last summer, it is indeed a deep royal blue.
