HELP RECRUIT PARTICIPANTS FOR LEARN-TO-ROW

We need help recruiting folks into the three remaining learn-to-row classes, LTR VIII (am), LTR IX (pm), and LTR X (pm). We have coaches, but only half the number of rowers we need enrolled in each of the classes. This last round begins soon -- next week -- so please put the word out. The AARC member with the most LTR recruits will receive a new JL pair of shorts or rowing top -- whichever is preferred. Thank you!

BBQ ON THE SUMMER SOLSTICE

Please join us for our Summer Solstice BBQ hosted by the ITP program following this Friday's workout, June 23. Burgers, buns, condiments, some beverages, and a few desserts will be provided and we are asking the rest of the club's members to please bring some side dishes to share including chips, salads, dips or whatever else you can dream up.

This year, each monthly BBQ is hosted by a different group from the club. This month's event is coordinated by ITP rower Nora Waite. The remaining groups will be responsible for the following dates: July 28 (Open hosts) and September 22 (Basic hosts). Each group is encouraged to come up with a theme for their BBQ, but it is not required. Thanks to Rachel Cox and Cheryl Chidester for volunteering to host next month. I am seeking a member to help coordinate for the remaining event.

I am also seeking volunteers to help me plan the AARC picnic at a local park complete with Volleyball and other fun activities on Saturday, August 26. If you would like to help with this task please drop me a line. If you are interested in these non time-consuming tasks please email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com.

And finally, this note from Nora: "We are having a Summer Solstice BBQ this Friday. The usual applies, bring something to share, club will provide burgers, dogs, buns, condiments, plates, ice for coolers, and some juices and water. People are encouraged to bring brightly colored/warm-toned or sun-themed food , but it isn't at all necessary. Any dish to pass and yourself is great! Bring your own beer if you choose. Should be a great way to spend the evening."

CANADIAN HENLEY MASTERS EVENT SELECTION SET TO BEGIN

A reminder from Kevin regarding the beginning of Canadian Henley selection:

STEP 1: STATEMENT OF INTEREST (ANYTIME BEFORE JUNE 27): Our entries for this race are due on July 19. Therefore, we need time to determine our crews. If you are interested in competing, please notify Tricia by Tuesday, June 27 ( triciam@umich.edu ). Give her your name, birth date, and what side you row.

STEP 2: 1000m ERG TEST (JUNE 27/28): A 1000m erg test will be held on Tuesday, June 27, at p.m. practice and Wednesday, June 28, at a.m. practice. You pick which one you want to attend. This test is mandatory for all rowers who want to enter selection for this regatta (and is mandatory for all ITP rowers, regardless of interest in the Henley regatta). If you are unable to attend on those nights, you need to contact me by June 22 to arrange an alternate time. You will not be considered for selection without pulling this test.

KIDS TRIATHLON & FUN RUN

The Ann Arbor Triathlon Club is hosting the 8th annual Kids Triathlon and Fun Run on June 25th at Saline High School. This is a fantastic opportunity for kids up to 14 years old to have a safe, fun, and affordable event. All proceeds will be donated to the Trail's Edge Camp, a wonderful non-profit organization affiliated with Mott Children's Hospital to provide a summer camp for children who are dependent on ventilators.
