DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER FOR JUNE ROWING

If you haven't already registered to row this June (which is most everyone!), please do so by visiting www.a2crew.com . If you rowed in May and would like to continue into June, please register by 4:30pm on Wednesday May 31 to assure uninterrupted rowing! Questions? Email the Membership Chair, Margaret, at mlhudson17@gmail.com.

DETROIT REGATTA COMING UP

The next regatta is in neighboring Detroit, so come on out! The sign-up deadline is Monday, June 5, so look for the sign-up sheet in the boathouse. Questions? Contact Tricia (triciam@umich.edu).

IMPORTANT NOTE ON COXING

Thanks to everyone for helping the coxing system work smoothly this season! The current row:cox ratio for the club is 6.0, so if you row 3 times a week you'll need to cox about every other week. To make things even smoother, you may sign up in advance to cox a certain practice -- the sign up sheet is on the bulletin board (you too, dedicated cox'ns!). Cox'ns will be drawn first from the advance sign up list and if more coxswains are needed we will assign them based on the row:cox ratio and you may be selected! If you are an ITP rower, serving as a cox'n DOES count toward your three rows a week. Also, please note that there are tweleve practice opportunties a week for you to get in your coxing -- morning and evening practices M-F, Saturday morning LTR, and Sunday evening practice. So, make your life easier and plan your coxing day every other week! If you have any questions please contact the coxing committee, headed by Kate and Marcia, at nurseless1@comcast.net.

KNOW YOUR ABCs? DON'T MIND PAPER CUTS?

If you're interested in helping out the club on a short-term, fairly low effort project, here's an opportunity! I'm looking for someone to help me do a little filing and weeding out of AARC documents. If you're up to the challenge, please email Margaret, mlhudson17@gmail.com.

LEARN TO SCULL - SPACES STILL OPEN

If you have a contact at another rowing club, please pass this along! We have 2 spaces still open for this weekend's LTS session. Register at www.a2crew.com

The June 10/11 session is full, but there are spots open in all of the sessions after that (June 24/25, July 28/29, and Aug 5/6).

LEARN TO ROW UPDATE

Learn to Row classes are going full swing right now! Our first batch of graduates will finish class this week and transition into Basic Skills Development in June. They are a great bunch of enthusaistic and atheletic folks. Introduce yourself when you see them, help get them oriented to our ways.

The second round of classes is in its third week - they'll hit the shells next week! There are only two classes - an early morning one and an evening T/Th/Sat one (we had to cancel one, leading me to the following...)

The next round of classes begins June 5 and 6! There are two evening sessions planned, the traditional MWF and TTHSat format. Please talk to friends, neighbors, colleagues, the guy down the hall that does marathons, the woman next door who canoes, etc! Over 40% of LTR participants say they heard about our classes through a current member of the club. Be sure to have some business cards on you when you're wearing AARC gear, or just in your wallet, etc. Use them! Hand them to people! We only have 5 registrants so far for the 22 spots we have open - we need to fill them! We all benefit from LTR - the profit from full classes contributes to keeping our fees down. Full LTRs also ensure our future by creating new rowers! So please help recruit!

SAY HELLO TO THE NEW COACHES

New coaches Leah Farrell, Crystal Culp, and Caroline Pettit will be starting regular coaching schedules on 5/28. All three coaches have been around the boathouse already this spring - if you have not had a chance to meet them, please take a moment to do so. A final addition, Bill Lockwood, will join us starting June 5. While each coach may need a few practices to get his or her bearings, all are great coaches and are very excited to work with you!

STILL LOOKING FOR REGATTA CAPTAINS

We need two for each regatta to make sure things go smoothly through the day. If you can help the club as captain at one of the regattas, please contact Tricia (triciam@umich.edu).

RACING SEASON IS UPON US

Check out the in-stock AARC racing apparal at http://www.a2crew.com/merch.html#racing. We have limited supplies on hand, but will be placing a new order very soon. Look for details on how to pre-order any racing gear you can't find in stock in next week's email. Questions before then? Email aarc-merch@umich.edu.
