SIGN UP FOR MIDWEST MASTERS BY MAY 22
Our first regatta is quickly approaching: Midwest Masters Sprints will be held on June 3rd in Columbus, OH. Sign-ups are posted at the boathouse. Deadline for interest is May 22nd and will allow our coaches plenty of time to create lineups as well as time to practice in those line-ups the week leading up to the regatta. Please refresh yourselves with the roles and responsibilities of AARC members at regattas, posted on the bulletin board in the boathouse. Regatta questions? Contact Tricia (triciam@umich.edu).
COME ONE, COME ALL TO AARC'S FRIDAY SOCIAL BBQs
It's time for the Ann Arbor Rowing Club's first Friday social BBQ of the season. Please make plans to join us Friday, May 19, for some food and fun at the boathouse following the workout. We'll be providing burgers, buns, condiments, some beverages, chips and a few desserts, and asking the rest of the club's members to please bring some side dishes to share including salads, dips or whatever else you can dream up.
This year, each monthly BBQ will be hosted by a different group from the club. We will kick things off with the AARC board hosting next week and the remaining programs will be responsible for the following dates - June 23 (ITP hosts), July 28 (Open hosts), September 26 (Basic hosts). Each group is encouraged to come up with a theme for their BBQ, but it is not required. I am seeking a member from each group to coordinate for the remaining events. If you are interested in this non time-consuming task please email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com. AARC also plans to hold a picnic at a local park complete with Volleyball and other fun activities on Saturday, August 26.
So mark your calendars and plan to attend.
TRUCK AND EXPERIENCED DRIVER NEEDED FOR MIDWEST MASTERS
We need a truck (minimum half-ton) and/or person with trailer-hauling experience for the June 3rd Midwest Masters Regatta in Columbus (Tom K. is coaching at another regatta). If you (1) don't have trailer-hauling experience, but have a minimum half-ton truck that you are willing to let an experienced driver drive (with you as the passenger) to Columbus for Midwest Masters or (2) have LARGE, HEAVY (we're talking about the safety of you and our boats here) trailer driving experience and are willing to drive another person's vehicle, please contact Tricia a.s.a.p. (triciam@umich.edu). Traveling and accommodation costs will be provided.
STILL SEEKING REGATTA CAPTAINS
Do you have prior regatta captain experience? We still need two experienced regatta captains for Midwest Masters on June 3rd, and for most of the regattas during the remainder of the season. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes of getting the club registered for each regatta. If you're willing to help out, sign-ups are posted at the boathouse; if you'd like to learn more to help with future regattas, contact Tricia (triciam@umich.edu).
LAST CALL TO SERVE ON THE MCI PLANNING COMMITTEE
If you're looking for a way to become more involved in AARC activities and learn more about what goes on in the planning of a regatta, join us in taking part of planning AARC's very own regatta to be held on July 22nd on our own Argo Pond. Interested in volunteering or want to learn more? Contact Tricia (triciam@umich.edu).
INVITE FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO THE MCI
If you'd like your friends/family members to receive special invitations to this year's MCI, please send their email addresses to Tricia (triciam@umich.edu). The support of our friends/family are important to us all throughout the season—help us make them feel included with this special invitation
