BEER TASTING: ONLY A WEEK LEFT TO REGISTER
Don't forget to come out to the Third Annual Ann Arbor Rowing Club Beer Tasting Social Fundraiser!
We are about half way there in terms of registrations, so if you have been thinking about attending the beer tasting and just haven't had a chance to sign up on-line, you still have time. We are also still in need of about three to four more volunteers to help with pouring beer, checking people in at the door, etc. to help out please contact Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com
You can also help out by printing and posting flyers for the event. There's a flyer ready-made for you attached to this email.
- What: The club's beer-tasting gives everyone a chance to reconnect with their rowing friends and make new ones in preparation for the start of the 2006 season, while helping AARC earn some extra cash.
- When: 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 26
- Where: Arbor Brewing Company, 114 E. Washington in downtown Ann Arbor
- Cost: $20 per person. The cost includes a sampling of 7-12 beers as well as an appetizer buffet.
- RSVP: To help us with planning to ensure this will be a success, please register using this link (or from www.a2crew.com) by the extended deadline of March 23. Don't be left out!
Tickets will also be sold at the door, but please help us out by pre-registering!
If you can't make it to this year's fundraising event, please consider making a donation to the club instead!
OPEN HOUSE FOR 2006 SEASON
Come to AARC's Annual Open House! AARC's Annual Open House will be held from 12:30 - 3:30 pm on Sunday April 2 at the NEW Center building, 1100 North Main St., Ann Arbor, along the banks of the Huron River. The Open House is a terrific opportunity for those who are considering learning to row to get a feel for rowing, ask questions, meet AARC members and get LTR registration information. It's also a great time for returning members to find out more about AARC's 2006 programming and to help welcome new rowers. So mark your calendars, bring your friends, and see what AARC has to offer this upcoming season! And, if you can come, please wear AARC garb to help identify you as a member. (Need AARC garb? Order at http://www.a2crew.com/merch.html)
SEEKING MEMBERS FOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The AARC Board of Directors is seeking a few member to sit on the Nominating Committee to fill two Board seats that have been vacated. The Committee will work with the Board to determine the Board's needs, get suggestions, and propose a few individuals to consider as new Members-at-Large. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Margaret (mlhudson17@gmail.com). We anticipate the committee working over the next 4-6 weeks. Additionally, if you are interested in being considered for a position on the Board, please contact Margaret.
REGATTA CAPTAINS NEEDED
If you're interested in stepping up to help
out with regattas this year contact Tricia (triciam@umich.edu). Regatta
captains are expected to be the first members on site along with the
trailer to make sure AARC has all paperwork/fees taken care of
(regardless of their own event times), as well as be the overseers of
all the days events (e.g. working with the coaches and with Tom K. to
assure smooth transitions at the trailer with all racing equipment).
The regatta captains are also responsible for collecting all participant
event waivers as well as personal contact information in case of
emergency and/or inclement weather/racing delays. Two regatta captains
will be assigned to each regatta.
