BEER TASTING: DON'T FORGET

We currently have three people signed up for our March social event and will need 50 to make this event a successful season opener. Please invite a friend or two. Attached is a flier to hang up at work, your local gym or around town. So spread the word. The more the merrier!

  • What: The club's beer-tasting gives everyone a chance to reconnect with their rowing friends and make new ones in preparation for the start of the 2006 season, while helping AARC earn some extra cash.
  • When: 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 26
  • Where: Arbor Brewing Company, 114 E. Washington in downtown Ann Arbor
  • Cost: $20 per person. The cost includes a sampling of 7-12 beers as well as an appetizer buffet.
  • RSVP: To sign up and make a payment go to http://www.a2crew.com The deadline is March 20.

We are also still seeking 10-12 members of the club to help volunteer to help serve beer during the tasting, and sell tickets at the door (which will include giving participants a tasting program and tasting glass). Thanks to the four people who have already submitted their names. To others who want to lend a helping hand, email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com..

OPEN HOUSE FOR 2006 SEASON

AARC's Annual Open House will be held from 12:30 - 3:30 pm on Sunday April 2 at the NEW Center building, 1100 North Main St., Ann Arbor, along the banks of the Huron River. The Open House is a terrific opportunity for those who are considering learning to row to get a feel for rowing, ask questions, meet AARC members and get LTR registration information. It's also a great time for returning members to find out more about AARC's 2006 programming. So mark your calendars, bring your friends, and see what AARC has to offer this upcoming season!

SEEKING MEMBERS FOR THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE

The AARC Board of Directors is seeking a member or two to sit on the Nominating Committee to fill two Board seats that have been vacated. The Committee will work with the Board to determine the Board's needs, get suggestions, and propose a few individuals to consider as new Members-at-Large. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Margaret (mlhudson@umich.edu). We anticipate the committee working over the next 4-6 weeks. Additionally, if you are interested in being considered for a position on the Board, please contact Margaret.

PRE-SEASON ERG TRAINING: IT'S TIME TO GET BACK INTO SHAPE

Session 4 of the AARC Winter Erg Training starts this week. Come join us and prepare for the upcoming season. Coaches will be looking closely at technique and how we match up with one another. This session will run from Monday February 27 to Sunday April 9. Register on-line to attend. You get six weeks for the price of four!

Workouts are conducted at the Boathouse, Monday-Friday 6 to 7 PM, and Sunday 11 to 12 AM. Coaching is available most Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The workout plan for this session is available along with other training program details at the AARC website: http://www.a2crew.com/programs/winter_training.html
