THIRD ANNUAL AARC BEER TASTING SOCIAL
Please come out for the Third Annual Ann Arbor Rowing Club Beer Tasting Social Fundraiser
- What: The club's beer-tasting gives everyone a chance to reconnect with their rowing friends and make new ones in preparation for the start of the 2006 season, while helping AARC earn some extra cash.
- When: 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 26
- Where: Arbor Brewing Company, 114 E. Washington in downtown Ann Arbor
- Cost: $20 per person. The cost includes a sampling of 7-12 beers as well as an appetizer buffet.
- RSVP: To sign up and make a payment go to http://www.a2crew.com The deadline is March 20.
Don't for get to invite a friend or two. Attached is a flier to hang up at work, your local gym or around town. So spread the word. The more the merrier!
In addition, this event will require some help from members of the club in the form of 10-12 volunteers to help serve beer during the tasting, and sell tickets at the door (which will include giving participants a tasting program and tasting glass). To lend a helping hand, email Delores Patterson at dpatterson@detnews.com.
IN SEARCH OF PROGRAM ASSISTANTS
The AARC board is seeking members who are motivated, organized, and plan to row consistently throughout the season, to function in the role of Program Assistants. New for 2006, each program will have 1 or 2 assistants who will work closely with the coaching staff and the Sweep Programming Director, to help with administration and program (training plan) implementation throughout the rowing season. All levels of rowing as well as AM/PM rowers are needed. Besides regular attendance to practices, the position may require a few additional hours/month on administrative work. We also are in need of a program assistant for club sculling!
This is a great way to be where all the action is throughout the season, to help keep the programs running seamlessly, and to get to know all your fellow rowers! AARC is the club that we are today due to the generous volunteerism of all our members, so please consider becoming a Program Assistant!
Contact Carly Gomez-Fifer (cago@umich.edu) if you want to help or if you want more information. Thanks!
PLANNING FOR THE 2006 MCI
Planning for this year's MCI, AARC's very own regatta to be held on July 22nd, has begun! If you and/or your company would be interested in sponsoring an ad in this year's event program (advertising your business or wishing a participant luck) or sponsoring merchandise purchases please contact Tricia, triciam@umich.edu. (Rates and level of sponsorship are yet to be decided, but those who express interest will definitely be contacted in the near future.)
ORDER NEW AARC ROWING JACKETS
Orders for new AARC rowing jackets are being accepted starting today, February 1st, on the AARC website at http://www.a2crew.com/merch.html#jacket
Based on member feedback, AARC is switching from our previous style jacket to the "Purist Splash Jacket" with a hytrell shell, made by J. L. Racing of California. The jackets will be navy blue and red, similar to the other AARC racing clothing, and will have the AARC logo embroidered on the front, and "Ann Arbor Rowing" in white silk screen lettering on the back. The jackets and sizing information for both men and women can be viewed on the J. L. Racing web site (www.jlracing.com). For the ladies who are unsure of proper sizing, Janet Goldberg (keech@umich.edu) has tried on this new style jacket and might be a helpful reference, and Ron Woodman has J. L. Racing Splash Jackets if you would like to see one. The cost for the new jacket is $116.00* and they are expected to arrive at the boathouse in time for the first row of the upcoming season. Be sure to mark your calendars ... orders must be placed not later than Friday, February 24, 2006. No extra stock jackets will be ordered! Don't miss out!! Order yours today!!! If you were a fan of the previous style jacket, please let Jeff know (jfjones@umich.edu) and we will consider placing an order for those jackets later in the season.
*Please note that this price is predicated on a minimum of 9 jackets ordered. If fewer than 9 orders are placed the jackets will cost approximately $128.00 and a check or cash for the difference in cost will be payable upon order pick-up.
